Teddys Lookout no 2 limited edition print. This artwork is a limited edition print of the “Teddys Lookout 2” original artwork.
Teddys Lookout No. 2 and the rest of the series is inspired by this popular lookout high above Lorne and the St. George River in Gadubanud Country. It’s a must see as you travel along the Great Ocean Road.
This series involved a lot of colour exploration and from that, there is slight differences in each original in this series. Something that came from altering my colour palette in previous series was the addition of lilac/purple. Right from the start I felt that I wanted to use a lot more cooler blues/greens. Being surrounded by dense rainforest, I felt all the artworks have this in mind. After creating Teddy’s Lookout no 1, I reintroduced some more variety into the colour palette, revisiting my usual palette with rich transparent ochres and more coral pinks.
The view for Teddys Lookout no. 2 comes from the lookout itself. I felt so many would resonate with this particular view point so therefore I created a limited edition print which you can find here. You can see the original photo in the gallery. The lookout sits above the St/ George River, you see the Great Ocean Road weaving across the base of the cliff face in the background and you then see the road reappear in the foreground as it wraps back around the cliff face to the right. Teddys Lookout no. 2 also has one of the best views of the St. George River, I looked to make it a real feature using transitions in colour to represent the transparent water.
Teddy’s Lookout no. 2 has a mix of teal, cobalt blue, aqua blue, lilac, sand, magenta, coral pink, dusty pink, pale orange, deep purple, yellow/green, green/gold, burnt umber, transparent ochre, and olive green.
