Description

Rocky Point no. 4 limited edition print.  This artwork is a limited edition print of the “Rocky Point no. 4” original artwork.

Please click here to read up on FAQ’s and details for my prints and here to see the entire series

Rocky Point No. 4 and the rest of the series is inspired by the point separating Torquay and Jan Juc, Wadawurrung Country, Surf Coast Australia.

This series has a lot of similarities to the nearby Bells Beach series.  Turquoise water and a mix of earthy tones with bright bold pinks and purples.  The vegetation also has a lot more details like in the Bells series, creating loads of interest.  For me the technique with the leaves is another way I can freely and intuitively express colour and tone.

This perspective of Rocky Point is captured by myself on one of our trips down near the river.  Right next to the surf club.  You can see the original inspiration image in the photo gallery.  As always I love to use the image as a base point.  Always at some point during the creation of the vegetation I allow intuition to take over and I step away from the image.  My artworks are, to me, the beautiful balance between realism and abstract.  Taking an image known to the viewer and allowing my more playful side to express itself.

Teddy’s Lookout no. 4 has a mix of teal, turquoise, aqua, lilac, sand, magenta, coral pink, dusty pink, pale orange, deep purple, yellow/green, green/gold, burnt umber and olive green.  Rocky Point no. 4 is a warmer, brighter artwork full of colour.  This is mainly because there’s so much more rock in the artwork.  I like to have artworks evolve in their own way, each artwork in the series will have it’s own unique touch.
