Morning View is a fusion of the Celebration and “Heading Home/ “Home series. I looked to explore colour with this landscape.  After a short break over the Christmas period I had a clean slate.  I felt the need to bring to life those artworks and colour palettes I had felt pulled to create but hadn’t made the time.  I wanted to explore the colours of Celebration in the Heading Home scene and I created Morning View no. 1&2.  Morning View no. 4 is a continuation of the Morning View series.    No. 4 was just a little idea I had from my sons painting we have in my living area.  It has a solid colour background and with his random and intuitive brushstrokes, I adore it not just because he made it but because of the contrast of the clean background with the messy brushstrokes.  I was inspired to see what would happen if I did the same.  The change in base had me applying paint thicker and as a result the image is looser and more intuitive.

The landscape you see is an abstract view looking north from one of the highest points in The Otways.  In between Ferguson and Beech Forest. A gentle folding of hills and forest leading to flatter plains in the far background.  A sight to see if you’ve never visited Beech Forest, close to the popular Otway Tree Top walk.  For those who don’t know me this is where I grew up and it brings me so much joy bringing these sights to life in abstraction and colour.

Morning View has a calming feel with colours such as a variety of greens and blues, highlighted with purples, soft dusty pinks, peach, coral and warm yellow.
