Description
12 Apostles no.5 | Framed original artwork by Lauren Danger – This artwork is an original by Lauren Danger made in February 2021. It’s the 5th of the “12 Apostles” series.
Embracing the goal to create landscapes from the Great Ocean Road and Otways I felt what better way to start than the 12 Apostles. Recognised world wide, this group of sea stacks lined up along this limestone coast had my creative mind a buzz. Using a colour palette similar to previous works in this style I hope you enjoy my unique take on this landscape.
Being such a prominent location I wanted to include the many perspectives along this coastline as I could. True to my intuitive style, may markings are made spontaneously and I find this far more important to preserve in the final piece than accuracy. My skies are 100% spontaneous and what I feel is appropriate for the artwork. Colour choices for the Apostles themselves are to highlight them as a key feature. The vegetation has a general likeness to the photos that inspire the artworks. Finding a playfulness with the colour and shapes here are a must for me to create with freedom.
The 12 Apostle series shows an array of colours from, aqua blues, grey/blue, teal, grey, grey/green, olive green, blush pink, mustard, peach, apricot, purple and magenta. You will find more earthy tones mixed in with ochres and chocolate browns to give balance to the vibrant tones.
